More Than an Adult Trained Dog, The Right Dog for You.
Our Adult Trained Dogs are generally between one and four years old. They come from loving homes where relocation, divorce, illness, financial change or another significant life event has made it impossible for their previous owners to keep them. These are often wonderful dogs that need the right opportunity, the right training, and the right home.
We give deserving adult dogs a new chapter while giving our clients greater clarity about who the dog is, what the dog has experienced and where that dog has the greatest potential to thrive.
Taking the Guesswork Out of Getting a Rescue Dog
Many people would love to give an adult or rescue dog a new beginning, but they understandably worry about the unknowns. They may not know the dog's true temperament, previous experiences, behavior around children or other animals, or ability to adjust successfully to a new household.
Choosing a puppy does not eliminate every uncertainty. Even when a puppy comes from a reputable breeder, or is advertised as a “trained puppy,” no one can guarantee the exact temperament, personality, health or trainability that individual puppy will display as an adult.
Families can spend one or two years raising and loving a puppy before discovering that the adult dog is uncomfortable with the social demands of therapy work, cannot maintain the focus required for service work or is simply not suited to that household. The dog may still be wonderful, but not right for the role or family originally chosen for it.

By selecting adult dogs, Barbara can evaluate qualities that cannot be confirmed in a very young puppy. She considers temperament, confidence, recovery from unfamiliar experiences, sociability, energy, trainability, household manners and previous experience with children, adults, dogs, cats and different environments.
Whenever possible, we gather health records and reliable information from the dog's previous home. We continue evaluating the dog through daily life and professional training before determining whether that dog is best suited to become an Adult Trained Family Companion, Therapy Dog, or Service Dog.
No living dog comes with an absolute guarantee. Evaluating an adult dog does, however, allow us to replace much of the early uncertainty with observable behavior, professional judgment and a far more informed match.
We are not simply finding a dog and hoping it works. We are carefully evaluating, selecting, matching, and training an adult dog with a particular person, family or purpose in mind.

An elite family companion is perfect for anyone wanting a well behaved dog at home and in public to take their dog to parks, sporting events, outdoor restaurants, local pet stores, and more! You will enjoy the freedom of off-leash recall on the beach or a long hike. You will never have to worry about damage to your home, an aggressive dog towards your children or other family pets, or a disruptive dog at home or in public. Matching a dog to you and customizing the dog’s training to your lifestyle allows for a life filled with the best parts of having a dog.
Therapy Dog
Therapy dogs are the ultimate companions for people wanting to be involved in their local community or to take their dog into their workplace. Therapy dogs accompany their owners to provide affection, comfort, and support to people in places such as hospitals, schools, libraries, nursing homes, and more. Therapy dogs are one of Barbara’s favorite types of dogs to train because of the joy these dogs bring to people! They are trained to be well-behaved in all situations and prepared to be registered with a therapy dog organization.
Service Dog
Service dogs are specially trained to perform specific tasks to help people with disabilities. These dogs have the remarkable ability to give their person a sense of purpose, greater independence, and newfound confidence navigating the world. We specialize in training dogs for psychiatric, mobility, autism, and seizure disabilities. Each dog is trained to a high level of obedience and socialization over a period of at least 6 months. Our service dogs are the best combination of a well-mannered companion at home and a working dog eager to help their person live a better life. Each service dog is task-trained to your specific needs.
